School counseling is a valuable resource to the students, the parents and the teachers at DeLand Middle School. The Student Services Department provides a wide array of assistance programs, including specialized and comprehensive services, to the students, staff and parents. Student Services include school-based guidance services, the district-level departments of School Social Services, and school psychological services.
School counselors are responsible for helping students learn and grow educationally, socially and emotionally. They make sure there is communication between parents, teachers and students. Counselors advocate for parents and students to improve the students' wellness and educational experience.
Availability
Students you may make an appointment to meet with your school counselor (Forms can be found in your classroom). For Parent Teacher Conferences Please contact the School Counseling Department secretary (386-822-5678). The School Counseling Department office hours are 8:16 AM to 3:48 PM.
Confidentiality
An important obligation of school counselors is to maintain the confidentiality of their relationships with students. Therefore, the confidentiality of information received, and of any written or pupil records, is safeguarded.
